The Prada clad leader of a large PR agency is having lunch with what appears to be the Corporate Affairs Director of a FSTE 100 co.

She is bemoaning the lack of worldliness of her staff and how they are out of touch with reality.

Earlier she had been telling him how they build teams and morale: they have staff champaign breakfasts every Friday......

One of the privileges of the way we work is that we can often work where we like.

As a result we sometimes find ourselves in the proximity of other Marketing people, in hotel lounges, restaurants and members clubs. We are careful what we say, and if we want to discuss anything confidential we do it somewhere private.

But not everyone in our world shares our view. We are amazed by the indiscretion people display and by how hilariously some people discuss their businesses.

So we decided to create this blog to celebrate some of the finer examples of the lighter side of the marketing world.

We don't mean any harm to anyone, so we've made sure the venue and the people are unrecognisable, and we've posted things out of sequence, but we haven't made anything up: it's all true. Even if sometimes that doesn't seem possible.

And we're not immune to saying silly things ourselves occasionally, so we'll own up to some of our own.
